Apply for STORYHIVE documentary edition $50K production grant Posted: 09 Apr 2019 12:02 PM PDT The STORYHIVE documentary edition is now open for applications from storytellers in British Columbia and Alberta. Apply for a $50k production grant and distribution on select TELUS platforms by submitting your pitch video, budget and script draft or treatment. A total of 30 documentary projects will receive a grant. A few of the edition’s eligibility requirements:
Deadline to apply is May 7. Find out more and submit your application. Once finalists are chosen, NSI provides mentorship and training for the selected projects and their creators. Warigami from Jason Lapeyre, Laura Perlmutter premieres April 10 at Canneseries Posted: 09 Apr 2019 09:24 AM PDT Warigami, a new series from director Jason Lapeyre (NSI Features First) and producer Laura Perlmutter (NSI Drama Prize), has its world premiere at this year’s Canneseries short form competition. Two episodes will screen tomorrow, April 10, at the Espace Miramar in Cannes. In Warigami, Wendy Ohata has just made three startling realizations: One, she has a twin brother named Vincent. Two, she’s a kami-jin – a descendent of an ancient Japanese people who can turn paper into deadly weapons. And three, there’s a kami-jin warrior named Sadako hunting her down for reasons she doesn’t understand. National Screen Institute announces new partnership with CBC Gem Posted: 09 Apr 2019 09:18 AM PDT The National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) today announced a new partnership with CBC Gem, the national public broadcaster’s free streaming service, in support of the NSI Features First training program as well as other NSI programs and initiatives, including NSI Online and the NSI Online Short Film Festival.
