Tasha Hubbard’s nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up wins Hot Docs best Canadian feature doc Posted: 10 May 2019 10:05 AM PDT nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up from writer/director/producer Tasha Hubbard (NSI IndigiDocs) took home the Best Canadian Feature Documentary Award at Hot Docs earlier this week. The film is a personal reflection on the death of Colten Boushie, a young Cree man, and the subsequent trial and acquittal of the man who shot him. The jury said about the film: “[Tasha] has created a lasting document that brings together past and future to illuminate oppression and resilience. As an investigation of a specific injustice, the film leaves no stone unturned while infusing the narrative with a deeply felt, creatively authentic point of view.” The post Tasha Hubbard’s nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up wins Hot Docs best Canadian feature doc appeared first on National Screen Institute - Canada (NSI). |
