Second season of Steve Sxwithul’txw’s Tribal Police Files premieres this weekend

TV series Tribal Police Files, from director/producer Steve Sxwithul’txw (NSI IndigiDocs, pictured above left), has its second season premiere on APTN this weekend. Beginning Saturday, May 18, the unscripted half-hour series continues, following First Nations police services members on – and sometimes off – the job.

The second season takes place in the Chippewa community of Rama, Ontario, and covers the experiences of 19 different police members as they do their jobs and face the many challenges of a busy area, including Rama’s popular casino.

Superkids 2 screening and panel tonight at Vancity Theatre, Vancouver

Superkids 2, from directors Harry Killas (NSI Drama Prize) and Ric Beairsto (NSI Global Marketing), screens tonight at Vancouver’s Vancity Theatre at 6:30 p.m.

This Vancouver-made documentary shows how difficult it is for children, parents and educationalists to cope with kids whose IQ outstrips their peers. In 2004, a small group of elementary students were identified as gifted, and filmmakers Harry and Ric documented their search for the right high school. Ten years later, in Superkids 2, Harry and Ric check up on their progress and ask how well their educational choices served them.

The screening is followed by a panel discussion involving the filmmakers and educational experts, and a catered reception.
