Jennifer Holness (NSI Drama Prize, Telefilm – Canada Spark Plug Program, NSI Global Marketing) Lauren Corber (NSI Totally Television) Maria Kennedy (NSI Features First) Stephanie Ouaknine (NSI Totally Television) Trinni Franke (NSI Features First) Trish Dolman (NSI Features First) Virginia Thompson (NSI Features First)The program will empower and train Canadian women entrepreneurs to launch and grow their own sustainable businesses within the screen-based industries. With a strong mandate to champion diversity at its core, the program is designed to advance gender equality across the media sector, bolstering the economic success of all women, including women of colour, Indigenous women, women with disabilities, LGBTQ2+ women, and non-binary individuals. Films from NSI grads play Vancouver Short Film Festival, January 24 to 26 Posted: 14 Jan 2020 11:25 AM PST Films from a number of NSI alumni will play at Vancouver Short Film Festival, January 24 to 26. All-in-Madonna (pictured) by Arnold Lim (NSI Features First) plays Sunday, January 26 at 3 p.m. It’s based on the feature of the same name which was developed through NSI Features First. The feature-length version is set for release in fall 2020. Short film project from Kelly Milner selected for Harold Greenberg Fund/Territories Shorts Program Posted: 14 Jan 2020 11:23 AM PST Congratulations to producer Kelly Milner (NSI Totally Television) – with brothers Gabriel and Thomas Bullen – whose short film Weight is one of three projects selected for the Harold Greenberg Fund/Territories Shorts Program – in partnership with Yukon Media Development, Northwest Territories Film Commission and Nunavut Film Development Corporation. The program is designed to bolster emerging talent in the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Each team gets $20K to make a dramatic short film aimed at showcasing new creative visions and furthering their careers toward feature filmmaking. Jeremy LaLonde’s James vs. His Future Self gets US premiere Posted: 14 Jan 2020 11:22 AM PST James vs. His Future Self from writer/director Jeremy LaLonde and producer Jordan Walker (both NSI Totally Television) will have its US premiere at Santa Barbara International Film Festival this month followed by several other US festival screenings. Co-written by Jeremy and Jonas Chernick, the sci-fi comedy follows an ambitious scientist, determined to time travel, who is visited by an eccentric older man claiming to be his future self.
