Alumni films featured at LA SKINS FEST

Congratulations to the many alumni whose films begin streaming this week at LA SKINS FEST which runs from November 18 to 22.

The festival celebrates Indigenous talent by telling diverse stories, commemorating heritage and fostering dialogue on a variety of platforms.

  • Aadizookaan-ᐊᑎᓱᑲᐣ – created through CBC New Indigenous Voices by director/writer Kale Swampy, cinematography by Celeste Sutherland, sound design by Kane Kirton and Andre Nault and production assistant Sarah Simpson-Yellowquill (NSI Indigenous Programs and Administrative Assistant). CBC New Indigenous Voices graduate Adeline Bird stars in the film
  • The Healing Dance – developed through TELUS STORYHIVE by director/writer/producer Shaelyn Johnston and producer Sara McIntyre
  • Hunger – written and directed by Rachel Beaulieu (NSI IndigiDocs)
  • IndiGenie – written and directed by Sarah Simpson-Yellowquill and cinematography by Kane Kirton
  • My Mother My Rock – developed through NSI IndigiDocs by writer/director/producer Kelly Roulette

The festival will also include industry panels, filmmaker Q&As, musical performances and other original content.
