GESPE’GEWA’GI: The Last Land

GESPE’GEWA’GI: The Last Land, from Rezolution Pictures, debuts on APTN on February 13.

This 13-part docuseries follows the Mi’gmaq fishers of Listuguj, Quebec, and how the First Nations commercial fishing industry – one that was born out of violence and defiance – grew to be a key economic and cultural support for the community helping to preserve Mi’gmaq language and traditions that were almost lost.

Season one of the series was filmed in 2018, with a second season already confirmed by APTN.

The series, produced by Catherine Bainbridge (NSI Global Marketing, Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program), Christina Fon (NSI Global Marketing) and Ernest Webb (NSI Aboriginal Cultural Trade Initiative) of Rezolution Pictures, premieres on APTN in Mi’gmaq on February 11, with the English premiere on February 13.
