Call for submissions: Reelworld Film Festival and emerging BIPOC artist program Posted: 12 Mar 2021 03:53 PM PST Submissions are now open for the 2021 Reelworld Film Festival which runs from October 20 to 25. Submission is free before the early bird deadline of March 26. Reelworld Film Festival showcases a variety of genres such as narrative and documentary features, narrative and documentary shorts, music videos, animation and more. The festival exclusively accepts content by Black, Indigenous, Asian, South Asian, Middle Eastern, North African and Latin American Canadian artists both behind and in front of the camera. Submit your film. Reelworld has also launched their 2021 E20 program, an initiative to connect Canada’s racially diverse emerging talent with film and television executive professionals to develop their current projects. They are looking for stories that explore important themes and issues in ways that entertain, spark conversation and expand minds. Submissions close on June 1. Apply to the E20 program. Posted: 12 Mar 2021 03:31 PM PST Submissions are now open for the Just For Laughs Eat My Shorts showcase. Just For Laughs is searching for the funniest short films from around the world to showcase in Eat My Shorts – an annual short film program which screens during the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal from July 26 to 31. Short films can be up to 15 minutes long and from any comedic genre: mockumentary, parody, animation and more. All selected participants will have their films screened online during the Just For Laughs Festival where they will be voted on by a jury for a first place prize of $1K. Regular submission deadline is April 30, with a deadline extension until May 21. Find out how to submit your film. Alumni presence at SXSW Film Festival Posted: 12 Mar 2021 03:24 PM PST Congratulations to the alumni whose films will stream internationally at the SXSW Film Festival. SXSW Film Festival has moved completely online this year – screening feature films, shorts, music videos and virtual cinema projects. The festival runs from March 16 to 20.
