Corus Diverse TV Director students shadow on Kim’s Convenience, Vikings Posted: 27 Sep 2016 08:45 AM PDT The National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) is pleased to announce the series shadowing placements for its Corus Diverse TV Director participants. Elise Swerhone is program manager of the course and Gail Harvey serves as program advisor. Tricia Lee recently completed director shadowing with Erik Canuel on Ransom during the summer and Gloria Ui Young Kim, from the first year of the course, completed director shadowing with Peter Wellington on Kim’s Convenience in August. Tarique Qayumi will be shadowing Daniel Grou on series Vikings, shot in Ireland, later this month. Amy Jo Johnson shadows Craig Pryce on The Good Witch this month, and Tanya Lemke will shadow director Norma Bailey on Reign later this fall. “We are so grateful to the series producers for arranging these stellar placements. In addition to the directors themselves, a big thank you goes to Sandra Cunningham and Jennifer Paul from Kim’s Convenience, Tina Grewal from Ransom and Thom Pretak of Reign,” said Elise Swerhone. “Thank you also to Craig Pryce of The Good Witch and Susan Alexander, Sheila Hockin and Robin Neinstein of Vikings for offering their expertise to the Corus Diverse TV Director students. The program is designed for participants with directing experience who are interested in making the leap to directing scripted television series. About Corus Diverse TV Director in association with the National Screen InstituteCorus Diverse TV Director (formerly Shaw Media Diverse TV Director) is an advanced two-phase diversity training course for diverse directors who are female and/or Aboriginal (male or female) and/or a visible minority (male or female) and/or a person with a disability (male or female). The program includes an intensive boot camp in Toronto in June and a four-week director job shadowing experience on the set of a series in production.
