Vote for your favourite STORYHIVE female-directed digital shorts by February 10

Voting for the latest round of TELUS STORYHIVE digital shorts has begun.

Vote for the final female-directed short films you would like to see win the two top awards. Voting is open now and closes at noon (PST) on Friday, February 10.

STORYHIVE is a community-powered funding program that allows members of the community to vote for their favourite projects.

The program allows content creators in British Columbia and Alberta to submit their story ideas to an online public platform.

NSI delivers training for the selected projects and their creators once they’re chosen through the STORYHIVE process.

Call for films / submit by March 24

Films are now being accepted through FilmFreeway until Friday, March 24, 2017.

If your film is programmed, you have a chance of winning up to $4,750 in cash awards. We accept films released after January 1, 2012.

Your film must be less than 30 mins long. Drama, comedy, animation, documentary, sci-fi, horror, music video and experimental are all eligible and must be made by a Canadian writer, director or producer.

Gloria Ui Young Kim selected to Women in View’s Five in Focus program

Congratulations to Gloria Ui Young Kim (Corus Diverse TV Director), who’s been selected to Women in View’s Five in Focus program

The program is designed to highlight the diversity and depth of female directors in Canada. The finalists will be offered a networking day facilitated by Telefilm Canada. They each receive $2,500 in services from William F. White as well as passes to the upcoming TIFF, VIFF and Whistler Film Fests.

The Five in Focus were chosen by a jury of five industry pros including Jennifer Holness (NSI Drama Prize, Telefilm – Canada Spark Plug Program, NSI Global Marketing) of Hungry Eyes Film & Television.

In November, Gloria won the$190K Women in the Director’s Chair (WIDC) feature film award for her project Debra and Mona.
