Call Me Olly / Link to CBC

Call Me Olly, a new short featuring CBC New Indigenous Voices grad Olly King, is now available to watch on CBC Short Docs.

Ken Burns was born with the legal name Kenneth Charles Burns. To friends and family, he was simply known as “Kenny.”

Olly’s name change is more significant than a brand that rolls off the tongue. It represents a fresh start, and that claim of a bold new identity that’s no longer weighed down by the trials and tribulations that so negatively affected Kenny.

Entanglement, a feature film project developed through Movie Central’s Script to Screen in association with the National Screen Institute, has been accepted to the Madrid edition of Film Fest International.

The film screens on July 9 and is in the running for an award for best feature comedy.

Entanglement was written by Jason Filiatrault in 2014. Amber Ripley (NSI Drama Prize) is co-producer and Jason James (NSI Totally Television) is the film’s director and co-producer.

In the film, Ben (Thomas Middleditch) uncovers a family secret while searching for the meaning of his existence. This leads him to a woman named Hanna (Jess Weixler) who might have almost been his adopted sister. But when he and Hanna inadvertently fall in love, Ben starts to realize that everything is amazingly and incredibly connected – and that the world might just be more inexplicable than he ever imagined.
