NSI alumni receive support from CBC’s Breaking Barriers Film Fund Posted: 08 Sep 2017 02:48 PM PDT CBC recently announced the latest recipients to receive support from its Breaking Barriers Film Fund including several NSI alumni. The financed projects are Level 16, developed through NSI Features First by Danishka Esterhazy (NSI Drama Prize); Red Snow by Marie Clements (Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program, NSI Storytellers); and An Audience of Chairs by Deanne Foley (NSI Totally Television). The CBC Breaking Barriers Film Fund supports the production of feature films from underrepresented Canadian creators. Leah Johnston (NSI Drama Prize), JJ Neepin (NSI IndigiDocs) and Anna Cooley (STORYHIVE) are three of six participants starting the Academy Apprenticeship for Women Directors this month. The program provides intensive professional development to emerging female content creators by pairing each apprentice with an established director currently working on a project.
