Jason Filiatrault (Script to Screen) follows Molly McGlynn as the second filmmaker named to the list. Molly McGlynn named one of Playback’s Five to Watch Posted: 12 Sep 2017 08:29 AM PDT Each year Playback names five emerging filmmakers who are just about to hit it big and profiles them at the turning point of their careers. This year Molly McGlynn (NSI Drama Prize) is the first filmmaker out of the gate. Playback spoke with Molly fans including Deepa Mehta about her professional maturity and storytelling instinct. Molly’s debut feature as writer/director, Mary Goes Round, premiered over the weekend at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film tells the story of an alcoholic substance abuse counsellor who retreats to her hometown to learn her estranged father has terminal cancer. Screenplay award and festival screenings for Allison Beda Posted: 12 Sep 2017 08:25 AM PDT Unpredictable the screwball feature screenplay by writer/director Allison Beda (NSI Features First) and writer Eileen Cook won best ensemble screenplay at the Broad Humor Film Festival in LA, and is an official selection of the Oaxaca Film Festival in Mexico in October. Her latest music video All About You (featuring choreography by Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg and music of The Royal Oui) will play in seven international film festivals this month including the Festival Internacional De Videodanz CDMX in Mexico, Salento Film Festival in Italy and the 40 North Dance Film Festival in San Diego.
