JJ Neepin (NSI IndigiDocs) will lead an introductory screenwriting workshop at the Winnipeg Film Group on November 1 and 2, 2017.

Headdress director JJ is a First Nations filmmaker from Winnipeg and has worked in various parts of the local industry since 2009. Recently, she directed two episodes of APTN’s true crime series Taken, airing this fall.

The course will cover some of the basics of telling a story, how to translate it into script format and get it camera ready. Students are asked to bring an idea or story to class for discussion. Cost is $50 for WFG members and $70 for non-members.

Orlando Braun’s That Mennonite Joke screens in Abbotsford, September 30

That Mennonite Joke from Orlando Braun (NSI Business for Producers) screens this weekend in Abbotsford, BC at an event hosted by the Mennonite Historical Society of BC.

The event happens on September 30 at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium in Abbotsford at 7 p.m. Matt Falk, the film’s subject, and director Orlando will be in attendance.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online.

That Mennonite Joke is a funny, surprising and insightful documentary-comedy hybrid exploring humour in Mennonite culture through the perspective of comedian Matt Falk.

Congratulations to the NSI graduates named to the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) board of directors.

The new CMPA board represents a significant renewal for the organization, with 10 of the 24 incoming directors joining the board for the first time.
