Posted: 08 Nov 2017 02:54 PM PST Indictment: The Crimes of Shelly Chartier by directors Shane Belcourt (NSI Totally Television, Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program) and Lisa Jackson (Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program) is now playing on CBC Docs POV. Shane and Lisa are also NSI IndigiDocs program advisors. The film tells a true story about a reclusive young woman from a small Manitoba First Nation who captivated the press and made international headlines. Sensationalized in the media as a high profile catfishing case involving an NBA superstar and an aspiring model, Shelly Chartier was portrayed as a master manipulator who used social media as her weapon. The film screened at the imagineNATIVE Film & Media Arts Festival in October where it won the Alanis Obomsawin award for best documentary work (long-form).
