The National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) is pleased to announce a renewed partnership with Creative Saskatchewan in support of NSI Features First.

This commitment benefits current NSI Features First participants Shayne Metcalfe (based in Petrofka, SK) and Mark Wolff (based in Saskatoon, SK).

“Our support of the NSI Features First program provides Saskatchewan filmmakers, like Shayne and Mark, with an opportunity to bring feature film concepts to life under the mentorship of experienced film industry professionals,” said Greg Magirescu, CEO of Creative Saskatchewan.

“Past participants have capitalized on their NSI experience. Their productions have employed Saskatchewan film crews and contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars in economic benefits back into the province.”

Shayne and Mark’s project is called Whitelash (formerly known as Hunting Season). Shayne is the project’s writer and Mark is producing.

“The training that Shayne and Mark received through NSI Features First builds on their skills and strengthens the province’s filmmaking talent,” said John Gill, CEO of NSI.

“With so many NSI Features First-developed films being made and premiering now, including the upcoming SuperGrid from Regina producer Hugh Patterson and Vancouver writer Todd McCauley, it’s great that Creative Saskatchewan is continuing their commitment to their region’s filmmakers in this course.”

NSI Features First is a development training launch pad for producer/writer teams looking to produce their first or second feature film with strong commercial appeal.

NSI Features First is funded by Presenting Sponsor Telefilm Canada; Supporting Sponsors Entertainment One, Super Channel, Corus Entertainment and Breakthrough Entertainment; Provincial Sponsors Creative Saskatchewan and Creative BC through the Daryl Duke and William Vince Scholarship Fund; and Service Sponsor William F.
