The National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) is pleased to announce the projects selected to the 2018 NSI Features First training course.

Congratulations to the newest NSI Features First teams:

  • Must Kill Karl from producer Ryan West and writer Karen Moore (Toronto, ON)

“I’m pleased to welcome these four new teams to the course,” said NSI Features First program manager Shelly Quade. “We received many excellent applications this year, and the four selected projects really stood out. Over the next 10 months of training and mentorship, their projects will be refined even further for the feature film market.”

The course gets results: 20+ feature films developed through the program have been produced since the course launched in 1997. Most recently Venus, from writer/director Eisha Marjara and producer Joe Balass, won the Alliance of Women Film Journalists (AWFJ) EDA award for best female-directed narrative feature at the 2017 Whistler Film Festival.
