Werewolf, the debut feature from Ashley McKenzie and Nelson MacDonald (both NSI Drama Prize), has been named the Rogers Best Canadian Film of 2017.

The award comes with a $100K prize, received by director Ashley at a Toronto Film Critics Association gala on January 9.

Werewolf depicts a couple struggling with methadone treatment and its impact on their lives while living in a small town.

NSI nominated Werewolf for the Telefilm Canada Micro-Budget Production Program in 2015.

Previously Ashley was featured in the The Globe and Mail‘s runners-up list of Canadian artists of the year for her work on the film.
