  • Ordinary Days from Jordan Canning (NSI Drama Prize), Kris Booth (NSI Features First) and Ramona Barckert (NSI Script to Screen)
  • Birth of a Family from Tasha Hubbard (NSI IndigiDocs, Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program)
  • Nuuca from Michelle Latimer (NSI Drama Prize)
  • Room For Rent from John Barnard, Chris Charney and Kyle Bornais (all NSI Features First)
  • Frigid from Joe Kicak (NSI Drama Prize)
  • Indian Horse from Paula Devonshire (NSI Features First, NSI Totally Televison) and Trish Dolman (NSI Features First)
  • The Road Forward from Marie Clements (Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program, NSI Storytellers)

NSI Features First-developed Venus gets international premiere at Cinequest

Venus / Link to Cinequest

NSI Features First-developed Venus, from writer/director Eisha Marjara and producer Joe Balass, will have its international premiere at Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose on March 3, 2018.

Genders, generations and cultures collide in this comedy about the modern family unit, which follows a transitioning woman who discovers she’s the father of a 14-year-old boy.

Also screening at the fest are Birth of a Family from Tasha Hubbard (NSI IndigiDocs, Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program) and The Go-Getters from Jeremy Lalonde and Jordan Walker (both NSI Totally Television).

Cinequest Film Festival happens February 27 to March 11, 2018.

Projects from TELUS STORYHIVE participants at 2018 Vancouver Web Fest

Six projects from five TELUS STORYHIVE participants have been selected (and are award nominees) at this year’s Vancouver Web Fest:

  • Brewstars – Ryan Curtis – nominated for best pilot
  • Girls vs. The City – Brianna Wiens – nominated for best director, best actress, best comedy and best of BC
  • Young & Reckless – Brianne Nord-Stewart – nominated for best of BC and best original score
  • Inconceivable – Joel Ashton McCarthy – nominated for best of BC, best director, best actor, best original score and best dramedy

Vancouver Web Fest happens April 19 to 21, 2018.
