Entanglement opens theatrically today in the US and Canada Posted: 09 Feb 2018 08:01 AM PST Entanglement, a feature film developed through NSI Script to Screen, premieres today in select theatres in Canada and the US. The film will also be available to stream in Canada on March 1 (Amazon, YouTube, Xbox, iTunes, Google Play, Fandango, Verizon, Dish and Shaw). Visit the official film website for full information. Entanglement was written by Jason Filiatrault in 2014. Amber Ripley (NSI Drama Prize) is co-producer and Jason James (NSI Totally Television) is the film’s director and co-producer. In the film, Ben (Thomas Middleditch) uncovers a family secret while searching for the meaning of his existence. This leads him to a woman named Hanna (Jess Weixler) who might have almost been his adopted sister. But when he and Hanna inadvertently fall in love, Ben starts to realize that everything is amazingly and incredibly connected – and the world might just be more inexplicable than he ever imagined. Michelle Latimer chosen for Field of Vision fellowship Posted: 08 Feb 2018 12:39 PM PST Field of Vision, the documentary unit of New York-based First Look Media, has announced a fellowship program to support doc filmmakers. Rise director Michelle Latimer (NSI Drama Prize) is the only Canadian selected for the year-long program. The collaborative program is designed to help filmmakers achieve their long-term artistic goals. In addition to helping with idea development, creative support and providing a grant, Field of Vision will also lead workshops throughout the year in digital security, research and legal issues. Girls on the Bus from Maureen Judge gets Hot Docs Ted Rogers funding Posted: 08 Feb 2018 11:15 AM PST Girls on the Bus from Maureen Judge (NSI Global Marketing) is one of six projects to receive $103K from the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund. The fund provides financial support to Canadian documentary filmmakers. Girls on the Bus follows five smart and sassy teenage girls in their final year of high school; they’re reflective, over-anxious and constantly struggle with living in a male-centric world while balancing peer pressure, family expectations and personal dreams.
