Alumni films streaming all month at Short Circuit Pacific Rim Film Festival

Short Circuit Pacific Rim Film Festival

Congratulations to alumni with films featured at the Short Circuit Pacific Rim Film Festival which streams online from May 1 to 31.

The festival represents filmmakers from 25 regions that border the Pacific Rim – British Columbia, California, Guam, New Zealand, Australia and more.

  • Finding The Balance – directed by Steve Sxwithul’txw (NSI IndigiDocs)
  • We All Dream – Daniel Stark (TELUS STORYHIVE)

The festival is hosting virtual filmmaker Q&As throughout May. Tune in to hear alumni discuss their films and ask questions through an online chat.

Fifteen alumni selected for Netflix-BANFF Diversity of Voices initiative

Netflix-BANFF Diversity of Voices

Congratulations to the 15 alumni selected for this year’s Netflix-BANFF Diversity of Voices initiative.

The initiative aims to accelerate participants’ careers by providing a tailored professional development curriculum and access to networking opportunities with key industry buyers. All participants get full registration access to the BANFF World Media Festival which runs from June 14 to July 16.

Alumni chosen for ISO-Netflix Indigenous Production Apprenticeship and Cultural Mentorship programs

The Indigenous Screen Office (ISO) and Netflix have announced the selected filmmakers for their Indigenous Production Apprenticeship and Cultural Mentorship programs.

Through this partnership, ISO and Netflix have supported a total of 49 projects with just under $1 million since 2019. This year, ISO and Netflix will put forth $390K of funding overall with $294K for the apprenticeship program and $96K for the cultural mentorship program.

The Indigenous Production Apprenticeship offers new opportunities for hands-on training and career progression for Indigenous creatives who want to take their career to the next level. Congratulations to the following alumni who will receive this training and support:

The Cultural Mentorship program provides opportunities for Indigenous creators to engage in cultural mentorship, learning and protocols throughout all phases of project development. Congratulations to Michael Auger (NSI IndigiDocs) who has been selected to receive this mentorship.
