African Movie Festival in Manitoba
The African Movie Festival in Manitoba announced their festival lineup and symposium event, with tickets on sale now.

The festival features 30 films from over 15 countries, as well as the Cinema and Black Empowerment Symposium, discussions with leading African cinematic thinkers and Q&A sessions with the trailblazing directors whose films will screen at the festival.

National Screen Institute CEO Joy Loewen will bring greetings during the Cinema and Black Empowerment Symposium – an event discussing issues, challenges and opportunities for Black filmmakers in Manitoba – on Saturday, September 25 at 10 a.m.

The symposium features filmmaker Tamara Dawit as keynote speaker, with a panel of six young Manitoba filmmakers who recently graduated from the African Movie Festival in Manitoba’s Filmmaking Masterclass.

The festival runs from September 24 to 26 at the Gas Station Arts Centre in Winnipeg.
