Watch now: Special online film program in celebration of our 36th birthday!

June marks the start of the Great Canadian Giving Challenge – a contest hosted by CanadaHelps – which gives charities like the National Screen Institute a chance to win $20K.

Until June 30, every $1* donated to the National Screen Institute via CanadaHelps.org enters us for a chance to win $20K* towards training future creators.

The more donations received, the more chances we have to win. Whether we win or lose, your donation is vital to the work we do.

For over three decades, the National Screen Institute has worked to support Canadian storytellers from coast to coast to coast, as they change the world through the power of story.

This year, as we celebrate our 36th birthday, I’m reminded of our growth and the many achievements we’ve reached together since the early days of the organization – none of which could have been possible without the support of people like you.

To honour the past 36 years and celebrate all that is still to come, we’ve curated a special online film program of 36 alumni films from over the years called 36 for 36.

The program features a collection of short films, including brand new stories and familiar favourites, such as êmîcêtôsêt – Many Bloodlines from Theola Ross and Alex Fisher-Bailey, Savage from Lisa Jackson, Lost Moccasin from Roger Boyer and Darcy Waite, Seconds from Jordan Canning and many more.

I invite you to watch these films and laugh or cry and celebrate the many content creators who’ve walked our ‘halls’ and shared their talents with us and the world.

We hope these films inspire you to support the next generation of National Screen Institute participants.

This month, every $1 donated to the National Screen Institute enters us for a chance to win $20K. Your donation impacts the many storytellers who work tirelessly to produce stories that entertain, inform and deepen our connection to one another.

Donate now!

With gratitude,

Joy Loewen
