Cinematoba program manager Cam Bennett and The Winnipeg Foundation’s Nolan Bicknell give an overview of this new community filmmaking initiative and break down how selected applicants will turn their project idea into a fully produced film.
Cinematoba is a community filmmaking initiative for five Manitobans to share their stories of local generosity. The program provides funding and filmmaking support for the creation of five original stories about the province.
This is a unique media production and mentorship opportunity for any Manitoban, aged 18 and over, regardless of filmmaking experience level. There is no cost to apply.
Each participant will receive a $10,000 cash award from The Winnipeg Foundation to produce a short film based on their story idea.
The Winnipeg Foundation and the National Screen Institute are committed to training participants from a diverse community of voices including Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, women, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning and two-spirit (LGBTQ2S+), people with disabilities, those outside large urban centres, those from regional and remote areas and various religious groups.
