Program manager Amy Reitsma moderated an info session and Q+A with program co-leads Ophira Calof and Michelle Asgarali. In addition to answering questions from potential applicants during the webinar, they are also open to answering further questions via email. You can reach them, along with peer support coordinator Dennie Park, at dp*@ns********.ca. This Q+A webinar was recorded on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. ASL interpretation is included.

The Disabled Producers Lab is a part-time, online program designed to enhance producing skills by exploring key stages of film production while learning how to prioritize accessibility at each step. Eligible applicants must be Deaf and / or Disabled, a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, experience marginalization due to their gender identity, have some production experience and the rights to a short film script (under 10 minutes / 10 – 11 pages).

Applications close on Monday, July 22 at 12 p.m. CT. Apply now!
There is no fee to apply. Participants will receive a $3,250 stipend.

Topics discussed in the webinar include an overview of the program, what the selection committee is looking for, timeline, accessible supports for applicants / participants / guests and much more.

The Disabled Producers Lab will be delivered entirely online through a series of virtual sessions for up to five participants to learn the essentials of producing from industry experts, including pitching and packaging, hiring cast and crew, and creating accessibility and disability-forward productions.
