The National Screen Institute is co-presenting two events at this year’s African Movie Festival in Manitoba (AM-FM), running from September 23 to 25 at the Gas Station Arts Centre.
The 5th annual festival showcases the best of African cinema and creates a platform for Afro-Canadian dialogue. AM-FM consists of movie screenings, interview sessions with directors / producers / actors and more – including this year’s Symposium, African Cinema and the City: Space-making, Place-making, Film-making.
Presented by the National Screen Institute, the Symposium will feature a special keynote by Tunde Kelani, the preeminent Nigerian filmmaker, and one of the most distinguished directors on the African continent. Symposium panelists include Juliette Hagopian, Shelly Anthis, Onookome Okome and Steven Kohm.
The Symposium takes place on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 9 a.m. Tickets are free, reserve yours now.
National Screen Institute will also co-present the film, I Am Afraid to Forget Your Face, from Egyptian filmmaker Sameh Alaa. The screening takes place on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.
