Latest Plan to Protect Jobs and Support Businesses

The UK Government has set out its Winter Economy Plan which is designed to protect jobs and support businesses over the coming months.

As part of the plan, the government has unveiled a new Job Support Scheme and extension of the Self Employment Income Support Scheme.

There will also be additional flexibility for over one million businesses to help pay back loans and deferrals of tax, plus the 5% VAT threshold for hospitality and tourism businesses has been extended.

The Scottish Government has introduced a range of new measures that are designed to help drive down the infection rate of Coronavirus.

The measures include a curfew for hospitality venues, restrictions on car-sharing, and encouraging all workers to work from home if they are able to do so.

Family-Owned Artisan Bakery Thrives in Burntisland

A new estate agency has launched in Kirkcaldy’s John Smith Business Park, with support from Business Gateway Fife.

Home Sweet Home Estate Agents Fife is the second branch of Home Sweet Home Estate Agents in Scotland, and will be run by local estate agent, Scott Galloway, with the aim of ‘instilling old school family values and growing it as a family business.’

Help for High Growth Start-ups 

High growth start-up companies and university spinout projects will receive grants to help them grow in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Part of a £3 million package of support, the funding provides grants of up to £50,000 for 41 high growth potential start-ups and up to £130,000 for 16 spinout projects. It also includes bespoke support to help businesses develop.

Businesses are being encouraged to continue recycling to help the environment as part of Recycle Week 2020.

Green economic growth after coronavirus (COVID-19) is at the heart of the recently announced Programme for Government with £70 million being earmarked to improve waste and recycling infrastructure as part of it.

This major investment is one of a number of initiatives planned to help increase recycling and build a circular economy.

The Kickstart Scheme, a ground-breaking initiative to support 16-24 year olds into work has been launched by the Government.
 
Any size and type of organisation that employs people can offer young people, claiming Universal Credit, a six-month work placement that will be paid for by the government.
