Husband of mayor dies: The husband of Mayor LaToya Cantrell has died, City Hall said this morning. Jason Cantrell was a longtime New Orleans lawyer and former public defender. Ben Myers has the story. Feeling the heat: This exceptionally hot and dry summer is giving farmers and ranchers fits. Rural issues reporter Faimon Roberts spent some in the desert, er, on the farms and ranches last week. Undefeated: It's a Saints Monday, and a good one for fans of the Black and Gold. The Saints beat the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday in the preseason opener for both teams, and, well, we’re undefeated. (I know, I know. It’s preseason!) Anyway, here’s all the news from Saints land. Enjoy! Lights out: The illuminated spans arcing over the Mississippi River create a dramatic night-time backdrop for downtown New Orleans. But since Hurricane Ida, it’s been lights out on the Crescent City Connection. Some have asked “Why?” Thanks for taking some time with us today. If you aren't a subscriber, here's a great deal.
