Keep Pace
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine and Covenants 121:33

"How long can rolling waters remain impure? What power shall stay the heavens? As well might man stretch forth his puny arm to stop the Missouri river in its decreed course, or to turn it up stream, as to hinder the Almighty from pouring down knowledge from heaven upon the heads of the Latter-day Saints."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Heber J. Grant

"If there is any one thing more than another that I desire to impress upon the hearts of the Latter-day Saints it is that we should in very deed serve God with all our might, mind and strength, that we may keep pace with the progress of his work here upon the earth" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Heber J. Grant, p. 216).

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY
April 12

1843 - The first boat of the year coming up the Mississippi River was the Amaranth carrying about 240 Saints from England, being led by Lorenzo Snow.  The Prophet Joseph greeted them as they arrived in Nauvoo.  Later in the day, the Maid of Iowa arrived in Nauvoo with about 200 Saints from England.  They had been stuck in St. Louis over the winter due to the ice on the river.  The Prophet Joseph also greeted them as they arrived in this "cornerstone of Zion."

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Question: What happened to Charles Alfred Harper's journal that he kept on his journey to the Salt Lake Valley in 1847?

Question: Why is it important that the story of the resurrection of the Savior be recorded in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon?

BOOK: Times of Turmoil 4: Reclaiming Liberty: Chapter 29

Carol's assignment at Hamer was discontinued, and she returned to Rexburg to be with Aaron, who remained on the BYU-Idaho campus to help prepare to shift the LDS Church headquarters to New Jerusalem in the coming months.

BOOK: Brother Joseph 2: Chapter Fifty-Five: The Return of Brother Joseph

Perhaps the most thrilling news of the latter-day dispensation is the prophecy that Joseph will return as a resurrected being to complete his work here in mortality. Not only will he return, but he will return several years before the Second Coming so that he can accomplish the various tasks which were specifically assigned to him before the earth was created.
