SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine and Covenants 109:12-13

"That thy glory may rest down upon thy people, and upon this thy house, which we now dedicate to thee, that it may be sanctified and consecrated to be holy, and that thy holy presence may be continually in this house; and that all people who shall enter upon the threshold of the Lord's house may feel thy power, and feel constrained to acknowledge that thou hast sanctified it, and that it is thy house, a place of thy holiness."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
David O. McKay

"When you enter a church building, you are coming into the presence of our Father in heaven; and that thought should be sufficient incentive for you to prepare your hearts, your minds, and even your attire, that you might appropriately and properly sit in his presence" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: David O. McKay, p. 33).

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY
April 14

1845 - Being without a formal government in the City of Nauvoo, the Saints resorted to unique ways to keep the peace.  Brigham Young records, "Elder Richards and I attended a deacons' meeting.  The deacons have become very efficient looking after the welfare of the saints; every part of the city is watched with the strictest care, and whatever time of night the streets are traveled at the corner of ever block a deacon is found attending to his duty" (History of the Church, 7:399).

QUESTION OF THE DAY
