SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Helaman 4:24

"And they saw that they had become weak, like unto their brethren, the Lamanites, and that the Spirit of the Lord did no more preserve them; yea, it had withdrawn from them because the Spirit of the Lord doth not dwell in unholy temples."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
John Taylor

"We must humble ourselves before the Lord, repenting of our sins, and henceforth preserve our bodies and spirits pure, that we may be fit receptacles for the Spirit of the living God, and be guided by him in all our labors both for the living and the dead. Our desires must be for God and his righteousness" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: John Taylor, p. 149).

LDS QUOTE MEMES

This quote is from Sister Linds K. Burton helping each other be who we need to be.

The Lord also issued a severe scolding to the Church members in general. They claimed that they had repented when they had not. Many of them wanted to run the law of consecration according to their own selfish and greedy desires. They also wanted to bend the rules to suit themselves, and would not support Bishop Partridge in the decisions he made as their ecclesiastical leader

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY
July 23

1847 - At 7:00 am the main body of pioneers broke camp at Mill Creek and traveled north a couple miles to the south branch of City Creek.  After traveling 1,073 miles from Winter Quarters, here a site was chosen for a permanent settlement.  The camp site included the land now occupied by the City and County building in Salt Lake City.  At 9:30 am, a meeting of prayer and thanksgiving was held.  Elder Orson Pratt dedicated the land to the Lord.
