2 Nephi 25:24-26

"And, notwithstanding we believe in Christ, we keep the law of Moses, and look forward with steadfastness unto Christ, until the law shall be fulfilled. For, for this end was the law given; wherefore the law hath become dead unto us, and we are made alive in Christ because of our faith; yet we keep the law because of the commandments. And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."

While the four sons of Mosiah went to teach the Lamanites, Alma the younger became the Chief Judge in the land of Zarahemla, keeper of the records, and prophet of the Church. By forgiving Alma of his past and trusting in the new man he had become, the people of Nephi showed their faith in Jesus Christ's power to change mankind.  Faith expels fear and infuses hope and charity.  
TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY
July 26

1847 - Brigham Young and fifteen others, including the other six members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles present in the valley, travel the northern end of the Salt Lake Valley.  They cross the Jordan River and travel to Black Rock at the southern end of the Great Salt Lake.  They swim in the lake and comment on the buoyancy of the salt water.  They then traveled west to Tooele Valley but noted there was not a lot of water that is so vital for settlement.  They then returned to Black Rock where they spent the night.
