SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Alma 56:47-48

"Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them. And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Harold B. Lee

"A mother's heart is a child's schoolroom. The instructions received at the mother's knee, and the parental lessons together with the pious and sweet souvenirs of the fireside, are never effaced entirely from the soul" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Harold B. Lee, p. 142).

LIBRARY: Brother Joseph 1: Chapter Twenty-One: Joseph's Mission to Stop a New Flood of Persecution

That night Newel knelt in humble prayer to seek his Heavenly Father's guidance. As he was praying he heard a voice from heaven say to him clearly and explicitly, "Thy strength is in me." With this simple yet powerful message filling his soul, Newel went to Joseph the next morning and said he was ready to undertake the responsibilities of being the bishop in Kirtland.
