SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY Helaman 5:12
"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." |
QUOTE OF THE DAY David O. McKay "Man's chief concern in life should not be the acquiring of gold, or of fame, or of material possessions. It should not be the development of physical prowess, nor of intellectual strength, but his aim, the highest in life, should be the development of a Christ-like character" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: David O. McKay, p. 220). |
ARTICLE: W. W. Phelps The life story of William W. Phelps is one of faith, despair, forgiveness, and love. It is one of the most wonderful stories of the Restoration and early history of the Church, and well worth reviewing.

For more events in Church History, 1842 - The Prophet Joseph speaks to the Saints in Nauvoo. "I am like a huge, rough stone rolling down from a high mountain; and the only polishing I get is when some corner gets rubbed off by coming in contact with something else, striking with accelerated force against religious bigotry, priestcraft, lawyer-craft, doctor-craft, lying editors, suborned judges and jurors, and the authority of perjured executives, backed by mobs, blasphemers, licentious and corrupt men and women--all hell knocking off a corner here and a corner there. Thus, I will become a smooth and polished shaft in the quiver of the Almighty" (History of the Church, 5:401).
