LIBRARY: Times of Turmoil 2: Martial Law: Chapter 4 Nathan had considered two possible places they could go, but as he looked at the billowing black smoke to the north, he ruled out the Chicago Temple. Judging by the smoke in the air, it really looked like the northern section of the city was going up in flames. So Nathan pushed Marie south. Their destination was nearly 300 miles away, but it seemed like the only place they'd find safety.
"Where are we going?" Marie finally asked.
"Nauvoo."

1857 - United States President James Buchanan instructs the War Department to issue orders for an army to assemble at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and march to Utah to put down the so-called "rebellion" of the Mormons. This was the beginning of the "Utah War" which later became known as "Buchanan's Blunder."
