SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Moses 5:11-12

"And Eve, his wife, heard all these things and was glad, saying: Were it not for our transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the obedient.  And Adam and Eve blessed the name of God, and they made all things known unto their sons and their daughters."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Heber J. Grant

"I would rather die in poverty knowing that my family could testify that, to the best of my ability with which God had endowed me, I had observed His laws and kept His commandments, and by my example, had proclaimed the gospel, than to have all the wealth of the world" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Heber J. Grant, p. 207).

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY
November 23

1843 - The Prophet Joseph Smith met in council at his "old house," known as the Homestead, and then walked down to the river.  He "suggested the idea of petitioning Congress for a grant to make a canal over the falls, or a dam to turn the water to the city, so that we might erect mills and other machinery" (History of the Church, 6:80).
