SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine & Covenants 19:16-19

"For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent; but if they would not repent they must suffer even as I; which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit---and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink---Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Joseph Fielding Smith

"It's the duty of the members of the Church to walk humbly and faithfully in the knowledge and understanding of the atonement of Jesus Christ. . . .

"I have the feeling, I'd like to be wrong but I don't think I am, that a very, very large percentage of the members of the Church do not realize what it means to eat a little morsel of bread, drink a little cup of water in remembrance of the shedding of the blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and his sacrifice upon the cross" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Fielding Smith, p. 97).

Question of the Day

Q: Vienna Jaques is mentioned in D&C 90:28-31.  She was the only woman mentioned in the Doctrine and Covenants other than Emma Smith.  Who was Vienna Jacques and what was the Lord's promise to her?

The Lord began this revelation by saying that because He loved them and cared about them, He needed to chastise them so that they could realize their errors, repent and be forgiven.
