#1 “Face of Channel 4 News” Fired -- Too Old to be Female on TVNashville, TN News anchor Demetria Kalodimos, who had repeatedly been named the Best Local Reporter and Best Local TV News Personality by the readers of the Nashville Scene, was abruptly fired by WSMV, Channel 4 on December 4, 2017. On November 27, 2018, she filed an employment lawsuit in the Middle District of Tennessee, alleging violations of the federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Tennessee Human Rights Act and Disability Act and Tennessee common law. Allegations concerning violations of the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964 are expected to follow.
#2 Zetia and/or Statins: The Good, the Bad and the UglyHalle-Wittenberg, Germany Can a drug designed to curb heart attacks also cause heart attacks in some people? Apparently, it's possible with statins or medication like Zetia when used in combination with a statin. Statins are designed to lower the "bad" cholesterol thought to be a contributing factor for heart attack and stroke, while leaving the so-called "good" cholesterol to do the good work that good cholesterol, ultimately, does.

#4 Veteran Files Camp LeJeune Contaminated Water LawsuitWilmington, NC On September 13, 2022, Victor Malafronte filed a toxic tort lawsuit in the Eastern District of North Carolina. His complaint alleges that his exposure to contaminated water at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune from 1963 to 1967 led to stage 4 chronic kidney disease and severe chronic interstitial nephritis. His lifelong health problems have made it difficult for him maintain steady employment, and at one point, he even tried to take his own life.
#5 Maker Of “Neuro” Drinks Agrees To Pay $500,000 In Fines and Restitution Neurobrands LLC, the Santa Monica-based maker of the “Neuro” line of drinks, has agreed to a permanent court injunction that requires it to change its marketing practices. The company will also pay $500,000 in penalties and restitution as part of a settlement with local prosecutors.
#6 Seroquel Side Effects for the ElderlyPearblossom, CA Seroquel is a neuroleptic indicated for the treatment of bipolar disorder—and like most drugs carries a host of Seroquel side effects, including diabetes, tardive dyskinesia and even birth defects. However, there is a little-known use for Seroquel off-label that concerned the daughter of one Alzheimer's patient for whom she was caring.

#8 Texas Employment Law: Don't Wait to Take Your PTOHouston, TX Pete did his company a service by not taking Paid Time Off (PTO) in over four years of employment. Yesterday was his last day of work. He has accrued 150 hours of PTO, but Texas Employment law does not require that employers pay workers for earned but unused vacation upon termination, unless the employer has a written policy or past practice of doing so.
#9 Parties to Settle 401k Fiduciary Breach Lawsuit in Reichert v. Juniper Networks, Inc.San Jose, CA On November 11, the District Court for the Northern District of California is expected to approve a settlement in Reichert v. Juniper Networks Inc. The class action ERISA lawsuit, like many before it, alleges that the fiduciaries of the Juniper Networks, Inc. 401(k) Plan breached their legal duty to plan participants because of the way that they managed the participants’ retirement savings.
#10 Fosamax: Are the Benefits Worth the Risks?Los Angeles, CA Depending on who you ask, the risks of Fosamax side effects are either greater than the benefits or vice versa. Despite research into the link between Fosamax and femur fractures, there is little consensus about whether or not patients should be especially concerned about Fosamax femur fractures or Fosamax osteonecrosis of the jaw.
