#1 Amazon Studios Unpaid Wages Class Action GreenlightedSanta Clara, CA - A California federal judge has given the greenlight to a background actor’s class action lawsuit against Amazon Studios for wage law violations. U.S. District Judge Consuelo B. Marshall determined that federal labor law doesn't preempt the claims, which involved hourly rate payments that didn't fall under collective bargaining agreements with the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
#2 Student-Athletes Sue Ivy League Colleges for Antitrust ViolationsSan Francisco, CA - On September 3, Tamenang Choh and Grace Kirk, one a former and the other a current student-athlete at Brown University, withdrew their objection to a $2.78 billion settlement proposed by a consortium of Ivy League colleges to end athletes’ “name, image and likeness” (NIL) lawsuit.

#6 Wells Fargo Settles Disability Discrimination Suit for 22.1 millionCharlotte, NC - A former Wells Fargo Securities supervisor was awarded $22.1 million by a federal court jury in Charlotte in July. Christopher Billesdon’s disability and age discrimination lawsuit accused the San Francisco-based bank of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act and wrongful discharge under North Carolina state law. However, the bank asked the court in August to toss the jury’s decision.
#7 Exactech Knee Lawsuit Trial UpdateSanta Clara, CA - The first Exactech knee bellwether trials in multi-district litigation are slated for July and September 2025. At least 1,670 Exactech lawsuits are involved, blaming a packaging problem that caused hip, knee, shoulder and ankle implants to degrade and fail long before their time. Some patients required replacement surgery within a few years of receiving the implant.

These dangerous drug lawsuits allege that the sublingual film prescribed to treat opioid addiction also caused devastating tooth decay and long-term dental damage. For many patients, this led to costly treatments and a diminished quality of life.
#10 Duane Morris Lawyer Charges Firm with Discrimination, Employee MisclassificationOakland, CA - On July 31, Megan Garland filed a class action lawsuit in the Northern District of California alleging that BigLaw firm Duane Morris discriminated against attorneys of color and female attorneys in violation of the California labor code. Garland v. Duane Morris alleges that the firm promoted women and people of color primarily to salaried partnerships rather than equity partnerships. There is a big difference.
