DNC night one

The first night of the virtual Democratic National Convention featured a slate of speakers who attacked President Donald Trump and said Joe Biden should be the next president [NYT].

Former First Lady Michelle Obama shredded Trump during her primetime address. "If you think things cannot possibly get worse, trust me, they can and they will if we don't make a change in this election," she said [Politico].

Jill Biden will be the headliner for the second night of the convention on Tuesday [WaPo].

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy agreed to testify before the House Oversight Committee on August 24 [Twitter].

House Democrats will vote on providing a $25 billion bailout for the Postal Service despite objections from the White House [CNN].

President Trump's executive order extending unemployment benefits may only provide three weeks of relief for workers affected by the coronavirus [WaPo].


Economy

Small businesses are re-opening at a rapid clip according to a new analysis from Goldman Sachs [Bloomberg].
