Community Land Trusts in New York City and allies are advocating for the Community Land Act, a legislative package aimed at providing CLTs with greater influence when purchasing land or buildings. CLTs, which help maintain affordable housing, are looking to gain equal footing with developers, with bills like the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act and Public Land for Public Good giving CLTs priority in property transactions and slowing down the selling process, making it more accessible for smaller organizations and tenants.
