The rise of remote working because of the pandemic has prompted between 14 million and 23 million Americans to plan relocations to new regions or cities, according to an Upwork survey. Just over 20% of those planning to relocate currently live in major cities and 54.7% of them want to move two hours or more from where they live.

Surveys show that encouraging workers to vote has a positive effect on employee retention. Companies such as Gap will pay workers who will take Election Day to work at the polls, and other companies are offering transportation to voting sites as well as paid time off to cast a ballot.
US first-time unemployment claims for the week ending Oct. 24 totaled 751,000, a decrease of 40,000 from the week before. It was the lowest rate since March 14, but economists remain concerned about jobs and the economy due to increasing COVID-19 rates.
Research from Gusto shows the continued disproportionate effect of the pandemic on women, revealing female employees have been furloughed and terminated at higher rates since March than men -- at 24% and 22%, respectively. "[E]mployers must aggressively protect the gains women have made in the workforce," Naz Beheshti writes.
