BY DOUG GRAHAM | Staff writer In order to protect the integrity of the high-profile investigation in the Madison Brooks case, District Attorney Hillar Moore says his office will ask a judge to bar the disclosure of any more evidence given by prosecutors to the defense to anyone not involved in the case. Moore spoke out Thursday after details regarding DNA evidence recovered in the case were made public. The NAACP to called for charges against the four defendants to be dropped. A proposed new Voodoo Doughnut shop in New Orleans' French Quarter has raised the ire of leaders among local practitioners of the religion. They say the shop's baked goods feature imagery that is culturally and racially offensive. "We have already had to deal with the name being bastardized and appropriated by all kinds of businesses, sports teams or whatever over the years, but I don't think it's ever been quite this disrespectful," said Divine Prince Ty Emmecca, who is known locally as the King of New Orleans Voodoo. The Raising Cane's River Center is opening up the ice rink in the arena to the public starting Friday and running through Sunday, Aug. 6. Summertime Skating's 75-minute sessions are scheduled for most days, excluding Monday. Tickets are $20 for all ages, with the exception of carried infants. Spectators will be admitted free but will need to go through security. |
