LEAP tests: Some Baton Rouge-area schools are tops in Louisiana

When COVID shut down schools and forced kids to learn online, the evidence showed it caused a major backslide in their learning. Scores on Louisiana's standardized test suggest that, in many places, things have started to recover. 

Here's a look at how Baton Rouge-area school districts performed — several of them among the best in the state. And to see how your individual school did, check out this searchable database. 


Every morning, Malik Clark woke up at 6 a.m., went out to the homemade stable and fed his horse, C.T. He loved caring for the horse and had dreams of becoming a jockey. 

But then he was shot and killed one night near Baton Rouge's River Center. His mother says he was killed by the ex-boyfriend of a girl who had started hanging out with Clark and his friends.
