Many Americans take dietary supplements along with prescription or over-the-counter medications. Sometimes, taking these products together may lead to unintended and undesirable effects. Some of these effects can be serious. Our newly updated tool, How Medications and Supplements Can Interact, can help walk you through some important issues to consider, including the types of information you should share with your providers and how to read supplement labels. The tool is part of the NCCIH Know the Science initiative.

Please remember to talk to your health care providers about all dietary supplements and medications you take.
