Privileges versus contracts

Per most states’ hospital licensure requirements, medical staff membership and clinical privileges are granted through processes outlined by the hospital’s medical staff bylaws. Those bylaws define the requirements for staff membership and delineation of clinical privileges. They also provide for various forms of procedural due process, including fair hearings (and any related appeals process) for adverse recommendations and actions.

In managed care credentialing, delegation is defined as a formal process by which an organization gives another entity the authority and responsibility to perform certain functions on its behalf through a contractual arrangement. Delegation can provide many benefits to both organizations, but there are also risks involved.

The Credentialing Resource Center’s (CRC) annual MSP Salary Survey measures the compensation rates, essential duties, and other workplace trends shaping the careers of MSPs across the industry.

CRC is heading to Las Vegas

The 2019 Credentialing Resource Center Symposium will be held February 26-28 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand. With so many credentialing, privileging, and medical staff leadership topics to cover, the Symposium has been expanded to 2.5 days and will feature a new provider enrollment track. Stay tuned as we announce our speakers and agenda, but in the meantime, mark your calendars!
