Join a Community of Educators Applying Design Thinking

An Emerging Pedagogies Faculty Fellow is recruiting 8-10 educators from across disciplines at Duke to participate in monthly workshops and discussions to learn about and apply design thinking principles to project-based courses. Help Design a Collaborative Project Expedition

Seven faculty are seeking applications from graduate students to work with them to create a new course or redesign an existing course that integrates collaborative, project-based work as a central element of the course design. The Duke Center for Computational Thinking recently conducted a survey of the Duke community to capture the "state of AI" at Duke. The goal of this effort was to gather information from a wide range of AI users and researchers across Duke and discover their AI-related needs. The results of the survey will play a role in guiding Duke's strategic investments in AI. The results are now available >

In their book The New Global Universities, Bryan Penprase and Noah Pickus explore how eight new universities across the globe were planned, funded, and launched, offering lessons both for future founders and for existing universities seeking to create new opportunities. Penprase is a visiting scholar at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and vice president for sponsored research and external academic relations, as well as professor of physics and astronomy, at Soka University. Lile accompanied Ying Xiong to Duke Kunshan University to help facilitate the IGHE Faculty Working Group Retreat on Education and Learning in China. They also (safely!) viewed the partial eclipse from the parking lot of our office space off of 9th Street.
