UP FIRST Apple to move away from using leather for accessories, reports claim Apple could signal its plan at next week's iPhone event Apple could soon be done with genuine leather accessories that include iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands, according to several reports in recent days. They’ll probably be replaced with a new synthetic leather option, with the pivot away from the material likely to be a part of Apple’s event next week when it’s expected to unveil the iPhone 15 and new Apple smartwatches. “Between the new Apple Watch and a move away from leather on iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands, I’d expect environment/sustainability to be a larger than normal part of the September 12th launch,” Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said in a message posted on Monday night. Gurman also shared a short video purporting to show one of the new synthetic leather iPhone cases and questioned how the move away from the material might, if at all, impact Apple’s partnership with Hermes, which currently offers a range of leather accessories for Apple devices. A separate report also suggested Apple may be about to discontinue its range of leather accessories. | |
