LEFT BEHIND: Louisiana’s population growth continues to lag that of all other Southern states, in a four-decade trend that carries dire consequences for Louisiana’s future.
HEALTH HELP: Not a single doctor provides obstetric care in 17 of Louisiana’s 64 parishes. Yet even as medical recruiters double salaries and offer signing bonuses, the state is doing little to help attract a different group of health care providers to fill that dangerous gap.
