Good morning and thanks for joining us. Here are some of the day's top headlines.
Thou shalt tweak thy bill: State lawmakers made some last-minute changes to the bill requiring elementary and secondary schools to post a copy of the Ten Commandments, largely to try to avoid lawsuits challenging the law's constitutionality. Critics, however, aren't sold on the changes. Meghan Friedmann and Patrick Wall have the story.
Storm recovery: The storm system that moved in from the west overnight Thursday didn't wreak as much havoc here as it did in Texas, but there were still widespread power outages and wind damage. Michelle Hunter has the details. And another round of storms was possible overnight Friday.
Aldi coming to Metairie: The German supermarket chain Aldi bought out Winn-Dixie earlier this year, but it hasn't been clear when the stores would be converted. Lauren Walk has this report on the first confirmed changeover, in Metairie.
