According to our contributing chef Lennox Hastie, mothers are the unsung heroes of most of our worlds. As Lennox puts it, mothers "stitch the world together not with grand gestures or shining medals, but with small, regular acts of love that are woven into our memories like a soundtrack to our lives we didn’t even realise we were humming along to". It's hard to think of a better expression of love towards the women of our lives than that. Lennox suggests making mum these luscious crumpets this Mother's Day, and if that's not enough, he also has a recipe for a lovely sweet cocktail that would be ideal for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Eating healthily is something that most people seem to be trying to do at the moment. This week Arash Hashemi shares his weight loss tips in two recipes that do not sacrifice on flavour. You could eat these dishes and enjoy them even if keeping the kilos off is not what concerns you.

Happy cooking, especially if you are spoiling your mum this weekend.

P.S

Take on recipe writer Nagi Maehashi at your peril is the message that has emerged over recent weeks, with the ex-corporate financier leaving dust in her wake on several fronts. Not only did she take down fellow recipe writer 'Brooki' to spectacular effect (if you missed it, catch up here), she also won big at the Australian Book Industry Awards held in Melbourne on Wednesday. Her cookbook, RecipeTinEats's Tonight, won Illustrated Book of the Year at the contest. No prizes for Brooke (Brooki) Bellamy's Bake With Brooki. Shock. Read more here.
